Understanding Body Damage

• Types of damage (dents, creases, rust, minor collision damage)

• Evaluating repair vs. replacement

• Basic metal vs. filler repairs

Tools & Equipment

• Body hammers and dollies

• Sanding blocks and power sanders

• Grinders/DA sander

• Stud welders

• Mixing boards and spreaders

Dent Repair Basics

• Hammer and dolly techniques

• Minor dent pulling methods

• Surface leveling

Body Filler Application

• Mixing filler correctly

• Applying and shaping filler

• Sanding techniques (rough to finish)

Surface Prep for Paint

~Course Overview

A hands-on beginner class teaching custom graphics and color applied on a lowrider model car. Students will personalize their own model kit. Class will specialized in the finish of the color and graphic of the model car.  The model car kit is provided and included in the class. Model car will not be assembled in the class.

A beginner, hands-on class focused on traditional freehand pinstriping techniques. This course teaches classic old school striping methods using a brush — no lettering, no vinyl, no tape layouts. Emphasis is placed on brush control, paint flow, symmetry, and line consistency.

• Origins of traditional hand striping

• Influence in hot rod and lowrider culture

• Understanding symmetry and flow

• Types of striping brushes (sword/liner brushes)

• Proper brush loading techniques

• Enamel paints (ex: One Shot style)

• Surface prep for metal and panels

• Cleaning and brush care

Brush Control Fundamentals

• Pulling straight lines

• Consistent line width

• Proper body posture and hand positioning

• Turning curves smoothly

• Controlling paint flow

Basic Old School Designs

• Teardrops

• Daggers

• S-curves

• Simple symmetrical layouts

Students will:

• Practice on paper and practice panels

• Develop control through repetition drills

• Complete a simple symmetrical old school design

• Finish a small panel to take home
